ORSI INTRODUCES NEW MODELS IN A REVAMPED RANGE FOR 2013
Orsi has introduced new models to the already extensive range of flail mowers. The new models include the Maxim, Eagle, Champion, Superior, Evo and the VM rotary series.
These new models complement the existing range by filling the gaps in specifications where required.
The new series includes the implementation of Hardox in several models to enhance machine strength for the tough Australian conditions.
Orsi can supply a flail mower to suit any application from the small hobby farm to heavy forestry work. The range includes various models that are available for excavator or skid steer applications.

MARBLE HILL PROPERTIES TAKES DELIVERY OF A NEW METRAC H7X
HORTICULTURAL, MUNICIPAL TRACTORS
The Marble Hill Group of Properties is a family owned business with rural landholdings in the Adelaide Hills, just 30 minutes from the city of Adelaide between the villages of Cherryville and Basket Range. The properties cover an area of about 300 acres and include a mixture of native bush and land cleared for horticulture in the steepest, wettest part of the Mount Lofty Ranges.
The "jewel in the crown" is Marble Hill itself, a 134 year old heritage-listed hill-top ruin, which was previously the summer residence of the South Australian Governor, until it burnt to the ground in a bushfire in 1955. The ruin is being restored to its former glory and will become a focal point in the region as an event venue, to help revive tourism.
The other properties were all previously worked orchards and market gardens, but economic decline in the region after the 1955 fire saw them fall into disrepair. Most of the slopes had been cleared over 100 years ago, initially for timber and then for fruit and vegetable production. Once neglected they quickly became infested with woody weeds, such as blackberry and broom, or reverted to dense degraded eucalypt forest, and access has proven difficult.
The owners of the Marble Hill Properties were not daunted by the task of restoring the environment, because they have historical connections to the area and understand its potential. They are committed to protecting the land from further degredation and recognise its picturesque value as complementary to their plan for greater tourism in the area.
Each property presents particular problems, depending on past use and whether the land is creekside or hilltop. Given the steep topography and the degraded nature of the landscape, we recognised the need for a machine that combined stability and safety on steep slopes along with speed and efficiency of operation, together with operator comfort and convenience.
Many of the properties had been worked with crawler tractors in the past, but while effective on slopes, crawlers are slow and uncomfortable, and unable to readily travel between properties along roads.
The specifications of the Metrac H7X seemed to be a very good fit for our requirements. And so far, it has proven to be all we had hoped: stable and tractable; comfortable and quiet; and above all, very effective and efficient. In combination with the Noremat flail mower, it is quite capable of mulching down heavy broom and blackberry bushes, while still being able to produce a nice cut on grass.
The tractor and mower form a very important part of our program of renovation of rundown land, and are also integral to bushfire mitigation in this most bushfire prone region, by maintaining well-tended scrub-edges, grassy areas and firetracks. It maneuvers well close to fences, vines and trees and enables us to maintain a park-like appearance throughout the estate.

NEW to the range of REFORM Municipal Tractors for steep hills/slopes
 The Reform Metrac G4 X series two-axle hillside mower replaces the Metrac G4. The new G4 X is powered by a 49hp Kubota V 2403-M series engine, producing 156 Nm torque at 1425 rpm. The Metrac G4 X mechanical drive steep slopes mowing tractor is a partially closed cab tractor; It maintains operator comfort and safety with a vibration damped cab that includes ROPS frame and roof, tinted windscreen and right side window (Closed deluxe cab with heating & air conditioning optional).
Reform's G4 X has a large 63L fuel capacity for maximising work time and eight forward/reverse gears ensuring the G4 X always has the right gear for the hillside.

REFORM - Municipal tractor range
The new series of Metrac hillside municipal tractors concludes with the top-of-the-line model, the H7X.
The Reform Metrac hydrostatic H7 X series two-axle hillside mower is powered by a 2,970cm³, 4 cylinder Daimler-Chrysler VM-D series engine, outputting 51.5 kW (70hp) @ 2600rpm and 250Nm @ 1800 rpm.
Power is delivered via hydrostatic drive with mechanical two-stage gearing and electrohydraulic selection of two speed ranges; switchable or manually operated in 4 speed ranges. The top-of-the-line model H7 X is designed with optimum operator comfort in mind. The H7 X is at home on the most extreme of hillsides and revetments.

Pugh Creek Harvesting's Cleanfix Solution

Ian Ghidella from Pugh Creek Harvesting is a sugar cane harvesting contractor in the Babinda area of Far North Queensland.
The season lasts for approximately 18 weeks, from June to November and during this time there is a huge demand for reliability and sustainability in machinery.
"In summer the ambient temperatures are extremely high and we found that by using the Cleanfix fan it keeps the engine radiator and screens free from trash and other cane debris", Ian said.
Consequences of obstructed intake screens and radiator cores include decreased machine performance, increased fuel consumption, reduced component life, increased downtime and interruption of production to clean radiators, as well as the obvious damage caused by overheating.
The solution: A Cleanfix reversible fan system with its integrated air cylinder and eccentric blade linkage reverses the fan airflow whilst the engine is still under full power.
The nine blades rotate on their individual axis to create optimum cooling and cleaning performance.
Additionally, Cleanfix fans can be fitted with the innovative ‘thermo-element’ option. Cleanfix Multi Control (MC) saves up to 60 per cent of the fan’s power consumption.
A 5 kW increase in performance at the crankshaft and at the same time, a 6 per cent fuel reduction can be achieved.
Cleanfix prevents overheating of the engine, gear box and hydraulic system. Work interruptions and downtime is reduced dramatically.
